Vision · Ghana to Africa

A Ghana factory. Dignity across a continent.

Scaling from one school at a time to a manufacturing base for women and girls across Africa.

If you have a daughter

She loses a week of school. Every month.

Across Africa, millions of girls do. Their schools have no working toilet, and nobody will talk about it.

The silenced crisis

Africa's silent crisis. We're making noise.

Sanitation. Periods. Underwear. The things nobody would discuss. Sanitopia is.

Under the carpet

The thing no one wanted to talk about.

For decades, the conversation about girls, periods and toilets in Africa has been pushed under the carpet. Schools without working washrooms. Girls without underwear. Communities without water. A topic too uncomfortable for governments, donors and even families to face.

Sanitopia exists because silence is the cost. We're building the infrastructure and the movement to drag this issue into the open. School by school.

  • Girls lose up to 20% of school days when their schools have no safe toilet.
  • Period stigma keeps families and schools from even discussing the problem.
  • One in three rural Ghanaian schools has no working washroom block at all.
  • Hygiene products remain out of reach for the girls who need them most.
  • Sanitopia is changing all of this. With toilets, underwear, water and noise.
The crisis

Thousands of Ghana's schools lack working toilets.

Students miss classes. Girls stay home during periods. Disease spreads through communities. This is preventable. We're preventing it.

🚽

Broken facilities

Abandoned washrooms force students into unsafe alternatives daily.

🎓

Lost education

Girls miss up to 20% of school days. Attendance drops. Grades suffer.

🏥

Health risks

Poor sanitation spreads preventable diseases through entire schools.

Free Underwear · Women's hygiene

Period-safe underwear, delivered to schoolgirls in Ghana.

A women's-led mission

When a girl has underwear, she stays in class.

It sounds small. It changes everything. Across Ghana, thousands of schoolgirls miss days, sometimes weeks, of school every month. The basics for managing a period with dignity simply aren't there.

Our Free Underwear programme is already on the ground in Ghana, distributing period-safe underwear directly to schoolgirls alongside the toilets we build. It's quiet work nobody else was doing. We're making it loud.

My wife and I attended Nkonya Senior High School. When we returned, the girls' washroom had been broken for a decade. We couldn't walk away. This is personal.
